    1. Oh thank you! And I’m so glad you are having a good spring. Bird and weather-wise, spring in Vancouver has been quite a treat.

That was my first day seeing Wood Duck ducklings. Their beaks and feet have interesting markings. I’ll try to post some pictures of these soon. And the female Wood Ducks have such lovely eye-markings, kind of Egyptian. πŸ™‚

What kinds of water birds do you mostly see in your area?

      1. Around here we see egrets, herons, cormorants, soras and killdeer. We are even seeing bald eagles! πŸ™‚ I think on the shore of Lake Michigan you can see many more species but I’m a more casual observer πŸ™‚

            1. Oo, yes! I listened to the different sora sounds on All About Birds. I imagined hearing them instead of the red-winged blackbirds in the wetlands around here.

      1. Not the newborn ones, but saw some older chicks following their parents once. I’ve seen eggs up close though…they blended in so well with the gravel on the path that we almost stepped on them if the mother hadn’t tried to lure us away with her broken wing act and alerted us to the fact that she had a nest close by. πŸ™‚
